PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings,

Hello everyone. Hope those of you that were able to attend either the Poker Run or car show in Pinole last weekend enjoyed yourselves. It will be close to the 4th of July Holiday Weekend when this newsletter hits your mailboxes. Have a fun and safe Holiday.

Good Guys this past June 5th and 6th was once again a great time. Attendance was solid, about 75 cars on Saturday, 30 or so on Sunday. Thank You to everyone that participated. A big Thank You to Tom Stanger for handling the BBQ chores. We have been invited back again for next year. As those of you in yahoo groups saw from my e mail summarizing the event, your GGuys event coordinator team of Jim Lent, John Phillips and myself will be stepping down. After 8 years, the time has come to pass the torch to a new team of event coordinators. GGG members have earned a solid reputation with GGuys and their Event Director, Harry Daviess, is OK working with our new team. Let us plan on putting aside time at our Sept. meeting to discuss this topic. Short of the long is that we need to have a team in place by Nov 15th of this year. John, Jim and I will be happy to help you get prepared for this. If you are interested in being involved in continuing what has become our largest participation event and a GGG tradition as an event coordinator, I would like to hear from you now. Please e mail me at MITYGTO@aol.com Quite candidly, if we are not able to put a team together, GGG will not be returning to host this event in 2005. It would be extremely unfortunate to have this happen. We need member involvement on this please at your earliest convenience.

Looking forward to other club business, the Golden Gate Park Cruise hosted by myself and Marsha, had been moved from its original October date to August as October was pretty full. In talking to many members at GGuys, I was told that many of us are busy that weekend in August with vacations, weddings, etc. So many members mentioned this to me that I suggest we cancel the event and look at it again for next year. On a different note, there is some interest in doing another Dyno Day as well as possibly getting together at Sears Point Raceway (Oops…….Infineon) for some Wednesday night Bracket Racing. Please contact me if you are interested in participating.

July 17th has us returning to Tilden Park in Oakland for our annual Summer Picnic.
Full details are in this newsletter, please RSVP at your earliest convenience. This as you know is always a very well attended event. Skip Hendricks and Jim Lent will once again be your event coordinators. Great family fun in a central laid back location. Anyone interested in setting up caravan meeting locations, please do so via yahoo groups as in years past.

See Ya in the fast lane;

John

UPCOMING EVENTS

The eighth annual Golden Gate Goats club picnic will once again be in beautiful Tilden Park in the Berkeley hills. We have reserved the Island Picnic Area next to the Brazil Room. There is plenty of parking right next to the picnic area to park the goats. There will be space for about 25 cars in front of the picnic area and the rest will be able to park right behind the picnic area.

The menu will consist of barbecued tri tips and chicken. There will be hot dogs for the kids. We are asking that everyone bring a side dish to share. Grill space is limited so if you are planning to bring something that needs to be heated please call Skip Hendricks first. We may need to bring some Coleman stoves.

Also let Jim Lent (510.799.6096 or email – jimlent@comcast.net) know how many in your group are coming and if you’re interested in helping out. We can alway use some help with the ever popular clean-up. PLEASE REPLY NO LATER THAN JULY 12.

BYOB: Beer and wine are permitted, however, no hard liquor is allowed.

If you get tired of standing around talking horsepower, here is some information on other activities in the park taken from the park’s web page.

OMIGODITSGOOD!

RECIPE CORNER

Hi Everyone,

June Good Guys had some yummy home made treats. Among them was a banana bread, made I think I heard by Paulette Henderson. There was also a cranberry Jell-O. I don't know who made but was yum, even without spoons. If anyone can help me find these recipes, I sure would like to post them for you all in our news letter. Just send on to John at mitygto@aol.com
In the mean time, Lolly has shared a delicious recipe for the zucchini that may be over flowing a few of your vegetable gardens. Thanks Lolly! This may be one way to get John to eat zucchini. The addition of cocoa, chips and pecans I don't think he will even notice. I know I will enjoy. Hope you do too. Enjoy your summer.

Marsha

1/4 cup baking cocoa
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup chopped pecans
