NO CLUB MEETING THIS MONTH
Hello Everyone,
Happy New Year !!!!! Hope Santa was good to all of you. Hard to believe that this is our first newsletter for another new year.
Our Toys for Tots event went exceptionally well. Thanks to all of you that came out and made this Xmas a bit brighter for a needy child with your contributions of toys or cash. You contributed $590 and the club added $500 for a total of nearly $1100. Weather was nice and we had approx. 30 cars attend. Once again, our event chairs were Russ Louthian and Ray Ibia and they did their usual fine job. We had our meeting prior to the event. Excellent turnout!!!!!!!! We put together the event schedule that you see included in the minutes from the meeting. Once again you came up with an interesting mix of events that will take place throughout the greater Bay Area. There should be something there for everyone.
We also introduced the new club T designed by Jim Lent with the American Flag in the colors of red and blue on a white shirt. It was very well received by all in attendance and sales were brisk. This shirt ROCKS !!!!! Anyone interested, please contact Jim as we have em for ya.
As you all know, it is time to send in your 2002 club dues in the envelope that you were sent last month. When you remit, please be sure to put your GTOAA # if you are a GTOAA member. We are collecting this information to see where we stand in making their newly implemented 25% affiliated club qualifier. If you have not sent in your dues, your prompt remittance is greatly appreciated.
Details on our first event for 2002, our group tour of the Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos on Sat Jan 26th are included in this newsletter. TheHiller Museum documents the history of aviation from day one up through present day. Very educational with lots of interactive displays, cut away engines, etc. Please note the RSVP date as the museum needs a head count to prepare for us. Thanks.
As a new year approaches, I always reflect back on the present year. 2001 was another great year for GGG thanks to the participation of many of its members. YOU make GGG what it is. I always make notes and paint a mental picture after each meeting that include what was covered, how it went, etc. One observation I made that was shared by my fellow board members and others was that there was not a lot of member response when we asked for volunteers to chair events. I wanted to mention this here to make everyone aware of this situation and to ask for any ideas or suggestions in how we can get additional members motivated to get involved in future event planning. If you look at who is doing what, it is always the same group of people. WE ARE NOT COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS. We would simply like to spread the wealth so to speak. Having new folks get involved will increase participation, generate new ideas and add to our ability to work together. These are all positive things that will enable our club to stay fresh and continue to prosper. Thanks for listening.
HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!!!
John

NEWSLETTER ARTICLE ASSIGNMENTS
Only one family turned in their Nov. - Dec. Car of the Month assignments. So, there will only be a blank page in the Feb. issue unless you folks get your articles and pictures. You know who you are - so we won’t embarrass you now, but we may just print your name on the blank page in Feb. to show who the slackers are. Additionally, you can expect a visit from “Guido” if you don’t get those articles mailed in! Trust me, you really don’t want to have a visit from Guido!!
GOLDEN GATE GOATS EMAIL LIST
The GGGOATS frequently uses an email list to get out information about events that may not have been available when the newsletter went to press.
This has proved very useful and, if you have an email account, you might want to join the list. Sometimes people change their email accounts and forget to let us know. If you would like to join or rejoin the list then please send me an email with your correct email address.
Please send additions or corrections to: jimlent@home.com
